tommyboy
Has anyone done this, or know how to? It's a fraction of the price to do it yourself I'm sure, but I've never done anything like this. We have some pretty serious sewing machines at work, so I can use them if I need to. Any help/info is appreciated!
Groomlakearea51
I can see it now..... Sarge: Tommy, just what are you doing with that government rigger sewing machine?!!!" Tommy: "It's an airborne loudspeaker resonance attenuation system...." Sarge: "Ok then.... better not be any of Klipsch stuff you keep talkin' about..." tommyboy
LOL. No, as long as it's not on our duty hours, we can utilize the tools/gear in the shop. So before work, on lunch or after work are all GTG!

USNRET
Tommy, I saw the same thing, why should these panels cost so much? I researched the material used as the panel and found it to be a certain Owens Corning model. I started calling local air conditioning / heating folk until I found someone that could get the 2x4' panels. Bought some acoustical fabric (Gilford of Maine) from a place in the Carolinas and some framing from Home Depot. Generic stapler for the assembly. It took several days of Googling and phone calls to the distributor but I made mine from the same mat'l the retail companies profess to use for about $40 a panel vs $300 + shipping. Does it work, heck I don't know but if I am using the same absorbent material and the same cloth then if it doesn't work then I'm a whole bunch to the good. At this point in my room I need an EXPERT measurement and placement or decrease/increase of panels. I thought my basement would be too bright built on a slab with 8 mm laminate for flooring but measuring with the ability I have (Phonics PAA-3 w/pink noise) I see a drop off in the high frequency. I'll buy a beer and a steak for the person that can come over and give suggestions!

Guest " "
Before going crazy on this...take a look at this web site for materials....this could be a case of sliding scale where 300 bucks would get you 100 udels of improvement and 29 bucks would get you 95 udels of improvement....like everything else...those last few udels of improvement are usally the most costly. http://www.acoustimac.com/index.php?page=shop.browse&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1&vmcchk=1&Itemid=
