White_Hawk Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 I have some very slight scraches on my 83s - nothing deep, no dents. It hasn't affected the grain of the wood, the black finish is all that has been removed. How could I go about touching them up? Thanks! Quote
TNRabbit Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 A fine point black "Sharpie". Wm McD x2...! Quote
White_Hawk Posted March 24, 2009 Author Posted March 24, 2009 Thanks for the input - I'll give that a try =) I always thought sharpies would leave a purplish sheen or something... Would you use a sharpie for a larger scuff (say 1/2" x 1/2")? Quote
jheis Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Josh: You're right, a Sharpie (or other "Magic Marker") has a purplish tint. It is not all that noticeable, however, except upon close inspection. I have a pair of pretty beat KG4.5s that are missing a lot of paint. I had been planning on sanding them down and repainting them, but picked up a Sharpie one day and started coloring in the areas of missing paint. Turned out pretty good. You can see the difference if you're looking for it, but most people don't notice. Not a perfect match by any means, but it beats bare wood showing through. James Quote
greg928gts Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 You could try an artists brush and Rustoleum satin black paint in the small can. Greg Quote
TNRabbit Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Get one of the Marks-A-Lot or Sharpie King Size permanent markers with liquid inside. They are BLACK and don't have that blu-ish tint...just touch it to the bare spots but don't go over the black areas. It will "bleed" into the open wood. Quote
Professor Thump Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Has anyone tried black shoe polish? Quote
