cigga24
First post, first time soon klipsh owner. Look at my sig, i have been slowly upgrading my system and its time for speakers. My sony are fine but they are looking dated. They are 3-ways with 10in woofer on bottom. I found a local dealer who is discounting the floor models and hes offering the RF-10s for $350 and and RC-10 for $150. He also got RF-62 for $579 but i think that may be to big. I found RF and RC-52 online for $479 and $229. My room is roughly 14x17 i think in 1bdrm apt. I auditioned the RF-10 w/ RC-52 and it sounded quite good. I had to lower the volume than my sonys normal point. Watching Casino Royale was a treat. I will mainly be using this for 50% tv and 40% movies and games. Rarely use for music unless cleaning. My question is i hope to move to a house in the next 2 yrs and wondering if theres a huge difference between the 10s and 52s or should i just get the 62 fronts and wait on everything else. I did try my sony center with just the RF10s and i had to turn volume up louder cause i couldnt hear the voices on tv. What do you guys think would be the best compromise? tommyboy
If you're patient enouch, I say get the RF62's, and wait on the rest. Always buy the best you can afford. I wouldn't even consider the RF 10's..............
cigga24
If i get the 62s then which center would go with that? Will a rc52 suffice or do i have to go with a rc62? Also my current center will definately not work with this so i'll have to virtualize the center in the mains.
jamesV
Welcome to the forum. I understand that you are in a smaller place then you will be in within the next few years. You really have to look at that, the big picture and where you are going to be. I say get the RF62's, and wait on the rest I second that.... How much are you looking to spend? jamesV
Here is the full speaker setup for the RF-62. You can always start off with the front two and then add the center, then the sub and last the rear speakers. James
cigga24
Surprised no one said get the 52s... well the wife wont mind me spending $200 less. so i'll get the 62s as opposed to the 3 52s. Honestly i really wanted the 62s anyway and needed you guys to help push me.
Mr. RF62
I agree with Tommyboy about getting the 10's, when I was looking, I was going to get the 52's as well, but opted for the 62's. I have a 52 centre aswell, and it sounds fine with me, I was thinking about the 62 centre but for $400 more, I can't warrant getting it for that. tommyboy
I replied to your PM. In the HT world, we have something called "timbre matching". This is VERY critical in your front soundstage IMO. The RC 52 should do fine with 62 mains, but the RC 62 is the perfect/timbre matched center for those mains...............
cigga24
Well I'll get to audition the 62s this weekend so hopefully the matrixed center will sound fine then i'll sell my current setup and go for center, surrounds then later an SVS sub and AMP. Hopefully i can get about $300 for my current sony surround setup. Tommy, would either of these amps work http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/HomeEntertainment/AV-Receivers/EliteAmplifiers/ci.M-10X.Kuro?tab=D http://www.jr.com/audio-source/pe/ASO_AMP100_hy_RB/ http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-M-282-2-Channel-Power-Amplifier/dp/B000069E2V/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top Regarding surrounds, can the RS10s suffice? Thanks for all the help fellas! Edit: after some more searching it looks like an Emotiva UPA7 amp may be a better choice for the money right now over the speakers [*-)]
cigga24
So i went with the 62s and 6ave has a name your own price special going on now so i got a rc62 open box for $260. I'm quite excited about it. I was thinking of downsizing to the 52s but decided to bite the bullet as many of you on here say. I then went home and streamed some music over Airtunes for the first time and it sounded really good so i'm glad i kept the 62s. If anyone is interested http://www.6ave.com/shop/nameyourprice.aspx

Wow, that's a great price on the RC-62. How do you like the bluwave with the Harmony One? I'm looking to buy the Harmony One and have been looking at options to control the PS3 and had read up on the bluwave. I think the only negative I've read about it is that it cannot power up the PS3. Not a big deal to me since usually you have to get up to insert a disk into it anyways. Just wanted to get your feedback as an owner of both. cigga24
Yeah i couldnt pass up the rc62 for that price. I didnt want to spend the money now but it would be hard to find this price again. Bluwave is great. I thought i would be annnoyed by it but its kind of second nature plus its better now that you can turn off PS3 through the XMB so getting up is irrelevant now. I got mine for $13 at the circuit city closeout.

cigga24
The main menu that appears when you turn ps3 on, its called the cross media bar or XM. If you scroll to left and press up then you'll have a power off option, which is what i use to shutdown with One.
Moderators Youthman Posted April 15, 2009 Moderators Share Posted April 15, 2009 I gotcha. So you still can't do it using a macro. Still no biggie though.
cigga24
Actually i guess you could do that [*-)] if you want a two button approach 1 to turn off ps3 and 1 to turn off everything else. I guess i have to go home and count the strokes tonight.
