ace168516
I just wanted to give everyone a heads up incase no one has seen this fabric. I got a sample and was dissapointed that the one direction of the weave was synthetic and has the standard shinyness everyone likes to avoid, but might be suitable for some projects. It came from a piano repair shop. Just wanted to throw another sample out there for interested parties.
Jay Registrar
Where do they use this material on a piano?
colterphoto1
I've wondered if hitting that shiny stuff with a dust coat of Krylon matte finish would kill the shine? I have some Wendell 'cane' grilles that have that sheen to them. It is bothersome.

ace168516
I had not seen the Wendell 4134 in person, and it appears to be the same as this. Someone over on the AK forums had a nice closeup of it and it does appear to be the same. This was the picture I got the sample from...it is slightly different, so I was excited and thought might have scored a jackpot for everyone. On a side note, this does come on a 72" bolt (I have never ordered Wendell, but assumed it would be a 60" bolt) and is $48-$57 a yard. ace168516
And to the answer to the usage question, this is used on the back of upright pianos when they are not placed up against a wall.
rigma
I bought the Wendell cane to redo some Cornwalls. I did not use it because of the shine. I thought it totally unacceptable. rigma
The Dude
I couldn't agree more, i ordered a sample which they sent for free so i couldn't complain. But was hoping on something not so synthetic. But i guess we all can keep looking
Jay Registrar
I don't have a problem with the Wendell Cane, but you could talk to places that re-cane chairs, etc. Might require a new grill frame, as the plastic stuff in my Cornwalls is too flexible.
