whamo
Hey all. You've got to see this movie. This is one of the greatest Rock and Roll movies I've ever seen. It's an independent film so it's only been shown in select cities. Even if you don't like metal music the story is one of the most touching and compelling stories ever. Go out and buy all of the Anvil stuff you can! These guys deserve it. This movie gets two devil rock and roll fists up!!!
Islander
The movie got a good review in the press here, along with an interview with a couple of the band members. It appears that Anvil were a big influence on bands that became much more famous than them.
colterphoto1
They never were a real band, were they? I mean this is parody like Spinal Tap,isn't it?
whamo
No, This is not like Spinal Tap. This story is real. They have 13 albums out and are opening up for AC/DC on some of their tour dates. This movie is spectacular.

whamo
Anyone else see this yet? It's out on DVD now. I bought their new CD too. "This is Thirteen" this disc is ok. Nothing unique about it, actually it's kinda run of the mill. There's a few good tracks though.
sunburnwilly
While I won't be running out to buy any of Anvil's cd's the movie is very good .
Yukon Jackass
I was a big metal fan "back in the day," and Anvil never got the props they deserved. I heard the album with "Metal on Metal (?)" on it, and it's OK, at best. Crappy production, etc. Live, they're supposed to be great. That's all I know about these guys. I saw the documentary, and I hope they finally cash in. They've hung around long enough to deserve the respect of the metal community, and I hope you all go out and buy yourselves a copy of this very well made documentary. BTW, the drummer is great. theryugobuddy
A great story with great personalities that have made average music for decades. A few more listenable tunes in the movie might have gotten them the big break they were looking for, but after hearing their one big song over and over it was obvious their sound is limited. Maybe Green Day could produce their next CD? They need help...
