JL Sargent
I bought a video card off Ebay. Seems to work fine. Running dxdiag indicates the ram is twice whats supposed to be on it. Says there is 1gb when it should be 512mb. I suspect that is the video card driver telling tales. Is there a way to probe the card with XP and see the "actual" ram on the card? Hard to imagine I got a 1gb card instead of the 512mb version. How can I tell?
Jay481985
What company is it from and whats the serial number. A lot of vendors have a find your card using the serial number.
ace168516
Jeff, download CPU-Z 1.52 from CPUID.com. After installing it, run it and there is a video tab that tells you the amount of ram on the card. ACE
Shodrewken
better yet go on google and download GPU-Z that'll tell you EVERYTHING about what video card you have.
JL Sargent
Thanks, that was just what I needed. Turns out I have the 512mb version that I paid for. Not the 1gb version the driver reported. The card is a MSI R4650 pci express if interested. By the way Ace, really been enjoying the pc!
flatgrass
Would it register itself with the BIOS? Be viewable under one of the menu areas? Quick, painless, and inexpensive option to try.
JL Sargent
The CPU-z program worked great and its free. Plus it tells you just about anything you might want to know about the system. I'm nut sure if the bios setup program would see the video card ram or not.
