guitarman
How is this happening? They've been disonnected for about 12 hours. They are emmitting a faint buzzing from the tweets and squaker. Wow. Have Crites crossovers.....capacitors still discharging? Flourescent lights? Never experienced (noticed) this before.
david.reed21
EMP interfearance, do you have any electrical pannels, recivers/transmitters, microwaves, computers, or the like near the speakers. These things will cause the diaphrams, rather the copper coils inside the diaphriams to move slighly causing the driver to produce a buzzing sound. Incidently the frequency of the EMP pulse will match the frequency of distortion that arrises from the buzzing of the speakers.
guitarman
That's what I was thinking. Disconnected the coax from the cable box that was running next to the cabinets and it stopped. Very interesting.
LarryC
I've read that speaker crossover coils pick up EMI. I've got the same problem, partly from an electricity service entrance panel on the other side of the wall one speaker sits next to. The level might fall with increased distance, or square of the distance, of the source from the coils.
CECAA850
I'm thinking poltergeist. Any silverware moving on it's own? Thumping noises?
wuzzzer
I used my Fortes to DJ a wedding dance a couple years ago and on the way to the reception hall I heard this weird buzzing sound. Turned down my radio and realized it was my Fortes which were sitting in the back of my wife's car. They weren't hooked up to anything either. dBspl
When we were still building the Forte...they were often referred to as "Phantom Forte's" for this very reason. dbspl
