heresy mid horns

Colterphoto has a pair of the adapters for this mod. They came on the K-52H drivers.

These nosepiece adapters are not overly common. The nose piece is in the lower right hand corner.

In late 1983, Klipsch made the Heresy-I with the K-53/701 combination instead of the K55/700. The K-53/701 still bolted to the rear of the motor board, but used the K-24 woofer instead of the K-22, and the crossover was labelled E2 as opposed to E.

You can swap a K-55/700 into a 1983+ Heresy-I "as is", but not the other way around as in put a K-53/701 into a pre-83 Heresy-I. Reason is the spacing on the motor board. There is insufficient space between the tweeter utout and the midrange cutout on the pre-83 motor boards to allow the swap. You would have to knock out the motor board and make a new one with an additional 1/2" space between the tweeter and midrange to get the flanges of the horns to clear.

As far as swapping a Heresy-II, K-53 to a K-700 (metal) horn, as described by others, you would need the adaptor.

To put the K-55 (pre-83 Heresy-I K-55 on a 701 plastic horn, you would need an adaptor, and since the K-55 is thicker than the K53, it will not clear the rear panel.

With the K-53, adaptor on the 700 (metal) horn, you may also likely run into a clearance problem. It's tight in the box.
