I am going to look at a pair of about 1984 lascallas and the sellers stated that they have only one bass driver in the pair and that is the way they were sold as new?? I have searched and can not find anything I have always assumed each cabinet held a tweeter , mid horn and a bass driver, can anyone point me in the right direction..

thanks for the response . so at any point did klipsch have two base drivers in the set?

A La Scala has an upper frequency horn, mid frequency horn and a bass horn (with a single 15" woofer). That's they way they have always been built. When you buy a pair of them you end up with two of everything.

There is one 15" woofer in each La Scala. It faces the rear of the cabinet and is inside the pointed part of the bass horn we call a dog house. The woofer is either a K-33-, rated at 100 watts, or a K-43-E, rated at 250 watts. The K-43 is less common and usually put in units destined for PA work.

1984 La Scala's should have the following compliment in each cabinet:

Tweeter - K77M square maget

Squawker - K55M mated to a K400 horn

Woofer - K33 housed as others have stated in the Dog house, you have to remove eth bottom of eth spoeaker to see it.

Crossover - Type AL
