QUiKSR20
Im going nuts I need to get a game system..I have no clue on what to buy. Its most likely either X-Box or PS 2 but I am really unsure then theres Gamecube my last choice. I wanna get into some awesome 5.1 gaming Im leaning towards PS2 because I know there will be good games out for it and X-box for its Killer specs which spanks em all + its built in 100 base net card and 7 gig hard drive. And then recently I have been thinking about game cube. I would like to buy a system before sunday. If you guys have any input I would apreciate it. Id hate to get a system and then a few months later say to myself DAMN why did I buy that instead of this. Thanks in advance for any help... ------------------ Thanks, Daryl Gregg MY Home Theatre Page Sony STR-DE975 HT Reciever Sony DVP-NS400D DVD SB-3 Mains SC-1 Center Quintet Rears KSW-12 Sub AR Proseries Interconects This message has been edited by QUiKSR20 on 03-15-2002 at 01:49 PM
Schmidty
I would highly suggest XBOX. You can already play online using Game Spy and it can be used in High Definition 1080 resolution, unlike PS2 480 resolution. I have mine completely wired with optical sound and component video in monster cable (only around $100) and it looks GREAT. You can pay for it just by how much you save with no buying memory cards. You can also save music to your hard drive and play it as a soundtrack in some games. I know PS2 has more games right now but there are a few really good ones for XBOX like Halo, Tony Hawk 3, SSX Tricky.... Hope my input helps, Tony
mike stehr
Is it me, or is the PS2 really noisy with it's internal fan? Our's is almost too the point of annoying.
QUiKSR20
Thanks Schmidty im totally leaning towards the X-box I dont have a HD TV but just for the fact of the Hard drive, faster in general, online gaming, etc and much quiter I hear ps2 like Mike said it gets real noisy. And its definately gettin the Advanced AV pack so i can run the SVIDEO + optical to my reciever.. ------------------ Thanks, Daryl Gregg MY Home Theatre Page Sony STR-DE975 HT Reciever Sony DVP-NS400D DVD SB-3 Mains SC-1 Center Quintet Rears KSW-12 Sub AR Proseries Interconects
Schmidty
Yeah, the PS2 has a very loud fan. You can also here it reading the disk. That is very annoying also.
Seb
Believe me, I don't hear the fan when I'm playing... Turn it UP!! :-) I really like my PS2, but unless you MUST play Gran Turismo 3 or Grand Theft Auto 3, then go with the XBox I think. There are some good games on that system, although I still think the PS2 has an edge up to now. ------------------ http://members.fortunecity.com/sebdavid - go laugh at my crappy website/equipment http://www.dvdprofiler.com/mc.asp?alias=Sebdavid - go laugh at my puny little DVD collection
Sinatra
All of those systems are great and fun to play. Hear is the layout. Nintendo Game Cube- Very small and easy to put anywhere. Very good graphics like its competitors. But as it gets old the games will too, nintendo has not come out with a good game since Mario RPG. X-box - This thing is huge, good luck puting it on top of something. The graphics are amazing and eye poping with sound that will make you system scream for more. IN general though it is not a very high selling system, but they do have some great games that might make you buy it. PS2- WOW...I played this many times on surround sound and damn does it sound good. Its not too big, but not really small either. Most of the games that you find on x-box you can find here...and then some. IN my opinion its a system that you will be able to hold on to for a long time. These are my opinions, you should really play all of them for yourself before you go out and spend 300 bucks on a system. -Sinatra
QUiKSR20
Well I bought an X-Box. I have read many online reviews and PS2 has more games now but is much slower in specs. and graphics werent up to the x-box, gamecube was a close second in specs but my 2nd choice was PS2.. Nintendo is always iffy about making crazy games like GTA III etc + they always sell themselves short what happens when those little discs arent enough and games are more than 1.5 gig where as the x-box and ps2 can hold 9gig dvd's Nintendo always sells itself short on storage also the x-box has built in 100Base T networking so i can play online in the future which already is starting using a program called gamespy tunnel and also has an internal 8gig Hard Drive so u dont need a memory card unless you want to bring the stuff with you.. Thanks For all the help the 5.1 gaming in DTS and DD sound awesome on my Klipsch setup. ------------------ Thanks, Daryl Gregg MY Home Theatre Page Sony STR-DE975 HT Reciever Sony DVP-NS400D DVD SB-3 Mains SC-1 Center Quintet Rears KSW-12 Sub AR Proseries Interconects
