winchester21
I am presently running a tercel 2 without cream and a Grado wood cartridge. I have a thorens 125 with a SME 3009 un modded tone arm on the way to me. I would like to run a Dennon 103 or similar MC style cartridge. I am not happy with the idea of shipping my Tercel back for the cream option to be added. I would like to spend less than 500.00 Maybe a Step up? Also loonikg at the jolida phono preamp. Comments?? Thanks in advance
LarryC
You might ask Mark. He can suggest what you should consider. markstephen@suddenlink.net You might also call Needle Doctor and ask their advice. http://www.needledoctor.com/ They have a wide variety of products that can match your needs. Be sure you and they understand the situation. Your Tercel 2, like any phono stage, already has RIAA phono equalization, so you shouldn't add more RIAA equalization to your Tercel -- just gain. How much gain is related to how much the Tercel has already, the line pre gain, and the cart. Since you already have a properly designed phono stage, a pair of transformers is one logical choice. Here's an example that looks too high for your budget: http://www.needledoctor.com/Ortofon-Verto-Set-Up-Transformer?sc=2&category=401 Hope this helps. winchester21
I yours FS a stand alone or a step up?
nu2toobs
Mine is a stand alone that connects between the between the turntable and phono stage. All you need is an extra pair of short cables. It isn't the one I linked to, but very similar.
nu2toobs
If you can solder, the Hagerman Piccolo is a great option also. That's what I'm using with my AT 33PTG. You have more loading and gain options that you can change on the fly.
