ccvalentino
Hello, I have an opportuninity to purchase either a pair of Heresy I's or II's. Both are essentially priced the same and are both Walnut. The H1s appear to be in better condition (in pictures) and the HIIs have some wear, but don't appear to be that bad off in appearance. Are there major differences with the H1s and H2s? I'd appreciate everyone's opinon. Thanks, Chris
Rivernuggets
I'm out of my jurisdiction, but have read that the IIs have better bass than the Is. Also, you can upgrade the IIs so they perform like a Heresy III. I'd get the IIs, given that their condition is decent. Now members with more knowledge, please chime in. seti
I like the I's but others I know prefer the II's. All that being said the H III's are incredible and hands down the winner.
Groomlakearea51
On the other hand...... H-I's are much eaier to work with when "upgrading". Properly sealed backs, new caps, new tweeter diaphragms (or CT-125's), and either the H-III K-28 woofer or the Crites CW-1228's will make them sound very, very good. Really scary good..... The H-II's can be done (caps, dia's and a new woofer), but the cabinets are MDF and not as easy to refinish/ re-veneer, etc. Just some thoughts. Guest " "
I like the sound of the H-1's better than the H-II's The voices sound a lot smoother on the H-1's
Ironsave
I own HIs. I have not heard HIIs; but I can tell you replacing the caps made a nice difference. They are an amazing speaker for their size; and paired with a good sub; your ears will be singing. The nice thing about the IIs is you can bring them up to the same spec as the IIIs; you cannot with HIs. That being said; I love my Heresies; and it's gonna take a pair of Cornwalls or Forte IIs to part with them...... Good Luck.
seti
Heresy's are one of the best hifi bargains around especially new.
ccvalentino
Thanks everyone. I'm now the new owner of a beautiful pair of Heresy HIs. Great speaker and excellent pair with my Marantz sr6003. Chris

Groomlakearea51
Thanks everyone. I'm now the new owner of a beautiful pair of Heresy HIs. Great speaker and excellent pair with my Marantz sr6003. Chris Listen to them for at least a couple weeks before doing anything. The "order of priority" on working with them is: Remove the rear panel and apply speaker gasket tape (parts express) to the braces (or to the edge of the panel) - Leave NO gaps Order a set of caps (recommend Sonicaps from Bob Crites) and replace the old dried out "oil cans". Easy to do if you know how to do basic soldering. Then listen to them...... The difference will be quite noticeable!!!

Thanks,Chris First, welcome to the forums, second it might be nice to know what drivers are in the H1, some were the 1.5's nicknamed the Franken Heresy. The ver 1 is I prefer to the 1.5 or the HII's, and I second Grooms comments on sealing the cabs etc. Dave
