Mallette
Just sound from the speaker, that's all. Also, I was suggesting connecting only to the suspect speaker, nothing else. What little troubleshooting skills I have start with one end, isolating everything, and testing one thing. Then I go up the ladder to the next point anything changes other than wire and check that. I've always been able to isolate a problem that way, electric, electronic, or digital. However, hum still defies my best efforts most of the time and is usually isolated only when I dc everything and start as per the inital method. Frankly, I often prefer listening to music with a bit of hum than to spending a day taking my entire system down and rebuilding it. I guess that separates me from the equipment heads... OTOH, it can be quite satisfying to defeat the Ancient Audiophile Archenemy, a humbug be upon him... Dave
