JL Sargent
I emailed him back and asked if a USPS MO would be ok. I also gave my address/phone and asked if I could call him. As far as a MO goes, I suspect there are WAY more cases of mail fraud than the US Gov. will ever do anything about. I would like it much better if this guy had some feedback from somewhere or if he sold on Ebay.
JL Sargent
Geeze Craig, now you've got me studying the circuits!!! Quote: Better than SRPP or Grounded-Cathode AmplifierThe Aikido circuit symmetrically balances imperfect triodes against equally imperfect triodes, which greatly reduces its distortion output; it also sidesteps power supply noise by incorporating the noise into its normal operation. As a result, in terms of distortion, output impedance and PSRR, the Aikido circuit works at least a magnitude better than the equivalent SRPP or grounded-cathode amplifier. The improved PSRR advantage is significant, greatly unburdening the power-supply. What about this kit/topology? http://glass-ware.stores.yahoo.net/aik9pindualm.html
NOSValves
Keep in mind that engineers rarely use there ears as the true deciding factor in what design is best... it's all a number crunching game to most of them. When it comes to audio what might be "technically the best" is not always "the best in sonic performance"....
Marvel
I did hear back from the guy but I have concerns about that co. I have not found any reference to somebody building that kit on any forum. I would really like to try it but I don't want to flush 500 either. I'm gonna email them back and see if they will take Paypal. I took the address for the company and searched that on the internet and I got back this: Looks like a home address in Canada per the birds eye view on that map. I dunno. http://www.canada411.ca/res/9055028833/Hun-Jai-Bae/140561430.html Maybe you could get MechMan to check it out. I think he lives in Mississauga. The street view in Google certainly looks to be a residential section. Bruce
JL Sargent
I asked about a USPS MO and the seller stated that it would be best to pay HIM to build the amp and that shipping would $80 da de da de da. So I'm gonna do something different. I found another interesting circuit here but it's not a kit. http://digilander.libero.it/paeng/a_6h30s_line_preamp.htm
NOSValves
Yea just do the entire thing yourself. Sounds like this guy is a flake.

NOSValves
I found it.... too many tubes in the signal path for my liking.
JL Sargent
Oops, looks like you found it. This PDF link has the schematic and the recommended values for components on the Aikido circuit. 6H30 is listed as an option. http://www.tubecad.com/Product_PDFs/9-Pin_Stereo_Rev_C.pdf That circuit I mentioned above from Italy was a 6H30 SRPP circuit. NOSValves
You're right I looked at it very briefly at first... but if you would have bothered to look further in the thread I did point him right to articles and information that it was an SRPP circuit. I just didn't bother posting the correction.
