Wrinkles
Amps look great. However, they both need new gain pots. I'll call Crown in the morning, but are there any recommended non Crown bought pots available? Anybody changed out their pots? What were your replacements? And what did they cost? Thanks, Wrinkles
fini
What eBay deal?
Chris A
Amps look great. Michael - congratulations! Unfortunately (or fortunately for me...) I haven't had to replace any pots on my D-75As yet - and I've got 6 of those units total that I bought on ebay/craigslist. I really haven't had any issues with any of them. Wrinkles
I called Crown Technical department. The gain pots are 20Kohm 31 detent type and sell for $11.50 each. Add 10.00 handling and 8.00 shipping and the whole cost will be $64.00. Looks like easy soldering and a tad of heat shrink to complete the job. Crown Stock number is 10000-5. Looks like Crown potentiometers are the way to go. A guy from Alabama had placed them on EBAY only 9 hours previous to my "Buy it now" action. He had three, but I only needed two. The four digit manufacture age code is 9077. Which either means July 1997 or July 2007.
Moderators dtel Posted July 21, 2011 Moderators Share Posted July 21, 2011 11.50 each that's a good deal, shipping is shipping, but the 10$ handling fee stinks, I would rather them tell me it's 21.50 each, at least I would feel better. [:$] Those are nice amps, and with really efficient speakers plenty of power. [Y]
Wrinkles
That was $10 total handling cost. So in this case 14.00 each, now that would be better looking at it this way, this time, anyway.
Moderators dtel Posted July 21, 2011 Moderators Share Posted July 21, 2011 Thats a little better, I don't know what I was thinking. It's still like them saying there's a 10$ charge for you to do business with us, would have never flown 25 years ago. Still very nice to get the real deal from Crown, probably would have been 175-225 for a tech to replace them.
