lifeisgood811
My dvd player has 3 ways for hook up: 1. Component 2. S-video 3. Optical/coaxial. Which is better?
Mighty Favog
After playing with mine for a while I found that the component hook-up had the cleanest picture. ------------------ Tom's Money Pit

I thought Optical was the best? ------------------ the m00n system FRONTS: RF-7 CENTER: RC-7 SURROUNDS: RS-7 SUB: RSW-12 RECEIVER: Harman Kardon AVR 520 DVD: Toshiba SD 3205 (DD, DTS) TV: Samsung 27" Flatscreen COMPUTER: ProMedia 4.1 c>Microsoft XBOXc> f>
peterm
Let me just clarify. The component and S-video are for VIDEO connection and the optical/coaxial is for AUDIO.
justin_tx_16
Component does have the highest video picture next to a true digital connection, like that of a computer monitor. Optical vs. Coaxial audio... Which ever you choose will be fine. I prefer Optical, just because it is new, and less chance of EMI or a bad connection. But you really can not go wrong with either. ------------------ -justin SoundWise Support A technical help site created by me and my fellow Klipschers I am an amateur, if it is professional; ProMedia help you want email Amy or call her @ 1-888-554-5665 or for an RA# 800-554-7724 ext 5 Klipsch Home Audio help you want, email support@klipsch.com or call @ 1-800-KLIPSCH RA# Fax Number=317-860-9140 / Parts Department Fax Number=317-860-9150s>
m00n
What I did was run component directly from my DVD into my TV. Then ran optical for the sound from the DVD into the receiver. To get on screen menu from my receiver, I ran a dippy little RCA cable from the receiver to the TV. Nothing special needed just for viewing the receivers on screen menu. ------------------ the m00n system FRONTS: RF-7 CENTER: RC-7 SURROUNDS: RS-7 SUB: RSW-12 RECEIVER: Harman Kardon AVR 520 DVD: Toshiba SD 3205 (DD, DTS) TV: Samsung 27" Flatscreen COMPUTER: ProMedia 4.1 c>Microsoft XBOXc> f>
zandern
How m00n did it is the best way. With the exception that some people use coaxial instead of optical. They are both digital and good, but I prefer the optical. And how he runs the little rca regular video from his receiver to TV for on screen display is fine. Nobody needs bragging rights about how clear their on screen display is. ------------------ The 17th school is done, no more forum for me.
