StephenM
What are you looking for in a new receiver that the 806 isn't providing you?
VIC
The power just isn't there anymore and the new decoding and also I'm getting a nice discount
Fish
The power, do you use the xpa5? The 806 should have new formats, unless you're after 9 or 11 channels? Does the 806 not do that? Is it the sound quality which resides in the 806?
VIC
It's just that i have to crank up the onkyo to like -10 so I can get any sound
StephenM
Are you sure the problem is the Onkyo, and not the XPA-5 or a faulty connection between the two?
VIC
It's the onkyo because I pluged the speakers directly into the onkyo and I get the same result
StephenM
Interesting. Did you re-run Audyssey after you plugged the speakers into the Onkyo? I'd be curious to see how it adjusts the trim levels, and realistically they probably do need to be readjusted after the switch from the XPA. VIC
I tried eveything and nothing so tell me which model should I get
mustang guy
Disable Audysey EQ and try it. Also, the speaker size setting at 80Hz will make the system less loud. Move the crossovers down to 60Hz and see what that does. Audysey will make the system less loud as it balances the sounds out. You may be craving the sounds it or the speaker size filter is taking away. Lastly, if you want more sound, then you should look at the speakers. The mains are small and so is the sub. StephenM
I tried eveything and nothing so tell me which model should I get In that case, get the model with the features you desire. At a minimum, go with the 809 of the three listed for the pre-outs.
wuzzzer
Getting a new receiver won't help. The trim levels in your receiver are probably set very low. Go into your receiver's menu and raise the output level of each of your speakers. Your receiver and your amp have all you need to blow the roof off. mustang guy
You don't need a receiver. You need a preamp. Unless you plan on selling your Emotiva as well.
