LeeVing
can someone decipher this?? here's the back label...could use some assistance figuring out this finish. Can't seem to make out what "ASL D/S" would be. Just curious about what I bought. Thanks
Budman
welcome to the forum. can you post some better pictures of the sides. ASL could be Ash-Satin-Lacquer T= 1979
LeeVing
Thanks. I'll take some pictures later today. Still curious about the "D/S".
LeeVing
About the best I can do with the light down here in the basement.
ace168516
my guess would be that it is o/s and probably oak stain. That is a very odd finish code. I have seen w/s which is walnut stain, but never seen that one.
LeeVing
I thought about that they could be "O's" too, but they both look like "D's" to me. Here's the other label.
Malcolm
Looks like ash veneer to me. I have ash cabinets in my kitchen.
russ69
Just a guess but D/S could be dark stain?
LeeVing
Any new thoughts on this...still curious. Is there an email I can get for someone at Klipsch that could figure it out??
Groomlakearea51
The coding is in engineering archives and from what I can tell, it was ash with satin laquer, and the cother coding indicates it was special order and the original purchaser specified a dark stain. Very few of these anomalies are available in the library resources and often these one of a kind codes were made on the production floor to track that special order. Groomlakearea51
Yeh, it normally would be AL or AO, and in the case of AL or lacquer, the lacquer is a #40 sheen, semi-gloss, OPEX. Satin is a lower "sheen", around 25-35%, so the sprayer needed to know to use the satin "gun". These special orders were not that common. More so in the 60's and 70's, but by the 80's+, very rare, and..... very expensive....
