cabinets

new to klipsch was a infinity fan but the infinity rsm series cant hold a candle but still sound good picked up the forte II for 75 at a thrift store in great condition the cabinets look a little dry unsure of the finish dont look like blond oak they look a little darker what will get them looking good

Welcome to the forum.

Nice score with the Forte II's.

Are the model numbers and serial numbers intact? If they say OL that means oak with a lacquer finish. If they say OO that means oak oil. WL = Walnut lacquer, WO = Walnut oil, etc. If an oil finish, get some Fornby's Lemon oil or a similar brand and just lightly oil them with a dry cloth to bring them back to life.

How about posting a couple of photos so we can help you better.

Clean them up with mineral spirits and let dry, the look at the surface and if all "sheen" is flat then they are ready to oil. If not, do it again, etc. Oil choice is like opinions, everyone's got one [;)]....

Me? Watco Danish, thinned 70/30, oil/min spirits, then once a month with a rag and Old English Lemon oil to clear off the dust, etc.
