RussJo
Hi, Anyone have expedrience with using an EV 1824 midrange for LaScala? Thanks Russjo
Guest " "
the 1824S performs closer to a k-55 than an a K-55 to a 1824M. Both need compensation due to impedance differences between the 1824 and the k-55. It's not an upgrade nor is it a transparent substitution. RussJo
Do you have the engineering data sheet on the 1824S? I only have the data sheet on the 1824M. Thanks

moray james
I don't have any experience but wondered if othere here might comment on the EV DH2Amt as a possible option. Best regards Moray James.
Elso Kwak
1824M is much better than Klipsch K55V. I have two to offer.
stereotyrant
1824M is much better than Klipsch K55V. I have two to offer. I tend to agree. (Compare the two on a "transparent horn ", and you will hear quite a difference. The subtleties get buried with the K-400 IMHO) I'm also sure there are those who disagree. RussJo
How do you get around the impedance difference between the EV1824 and the k55V midraange
stereotyrant
Depends on which network you have. The cap value would about double with a 6 db network. A or AA. I'm sure the impenance isn't exactly half, but that would ballpark it If youhave a K-55 to reference against, just put the 1824 on one side, and adjust cap and autoformer taps to match , playing the mids only.. I'll try to dig out my old settings and see what I came up with, it's been several years. I've always used resistor networks for attenuation, however.
