woodgrain La Scala's ?

Recommended Posts

Still working on the WAF and I don't think the black La Scala's will fit the bill.

How much can I expect to have to pay to get a set of woodgrain La Scalas? Black ones seem to be going for $600+

Age really doesn't matter and replacing xover parts is fine.

Thanks

David

The majority of Klipsch LaScala that I sold were birch stained Maple with a black top grill. Walnut stain was also offered, but IMO the birch looks better in a Maple stain. Brown and cane grills were also available, either full or top only. Un-finished birch was also popular.

If you remove the paint (which sounds like a pain, and it is...), and thoroughly remove the residue, you can experiment with certain stains which will cause the birch grain to "pop". There are also a number of techniques using different stains to accent grain patterns. Jewitt's book is a great resource on "how to". It's expensive, but it covers everything from A-Z including tools, supplies, etc.
