A1UC Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Anyone use a Panamax M5400-PM Mine has a hum this cant be normal Quote
JL Sargent Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Did you recently add new equipment to it? Coax or data cables with different grounding locations are a common cause. Anyway, investigate the grounding of your system. I'm thinking ground loop here. Quote
A1UC Posted February 25, 2012 Author Posted February 25, 2012 all I did was plug it in nothing hooked up Quote
JL Sargent Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 This is a power conditioner right? So your system is hooked up to ground somewhere and "reporting" the ground loop is my suspicion. Quote
JL Sargent Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Yeah, in that case call em and get their take on your situation. Quote
gnatnoop Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 my 5500 is quiet, and reduced the very little background noise i had with the bbx and vrd's. somethings broke... Quote
A1UC Posted February 27, 2012 Author Posted February 27, 2012 Panamax Tech Support It is perfectly normal on this unit to have some humming noise, this is due to its internal voltage regulation transformer. Any model with voltage regulation or an isolation transformer will generate this noise. There is nothing to worry about your unit is working fine Thanks, Quote
Mighty Favog Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 I don't believe that. My APC H15 is dead quiet and has voltage regulation. By dead quite I mean the unit itself AND out the speakers. Quote
W27 Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 I use a 5400. I remember reading about the hum before I ever got it. You're talking about a very faint hum coming from the unit itself right? Mine has that, but it's inaudible unless my head is right next to it. I had some issues with it over correcting the voltage too. The voltage shown isn't that accurate either. Quote
