glennconti
Here is part of a pair of La Scala's currently listed on ebay. They look to be in bad shape cosmetically and there is only a picture of one of them. Any idea what they are worth and any guess what they will ultimately go for? mustang guy
If they run well, and have AA or AL-3 crossovers, I would pay about $6-650. With a $1-150 each of work, they would be worth a grand.
mustang guy
One more thing. There is a nice looking pair of industrial Lascalas in the garage sale section. He's asking $1200, which is a fair price. Its in Florida, and likely local only.
glennconti
These I posted the pictures of are about a 4 hour drive for me to get. The lister says that "all speakers and cones are mint and they work and sound as they should" but he also says they are in "very good shape" cosmetically. Don Richard
Bring a reciever or some way to test them and use anything wrong you find as a bargaining tool to get a better price.
kaiser SET say
Hmm, "very good shape" cosmetically! Guess he thinks that JBL in the pic is in fine cosmetic shape as well[]
IndyKlipschFan
Even beat up ones can get 300- 350 each so yep 600- 700 $ is a fair price.... for the pair... (Assuming everything works) Less if it does not.
Mallette
You can fix ugly, but you can't fix crappy speakers. If they sound good, they ARE good. Dave
Dennie
I saw a pair on craigslist that looked just like that. Guy was asking $500 firm. Thank goodness I don't need them, but I did think twice at the price. Also, I've seen much worse condition pull in $500 -$600. As Dave said, if they sound good, they are good. You can fix MOST ugly! (I got really drunk one night and picked up this "chick" .......well, you get the point! []) Keep us posted, Dennie
glennconti
I just found out these La Scalas have the AL crossover type. B. Crites recommends an upgrade to his AL-3 crossovers - Cost $365.00. So, $600 - $365 = $235 to 250.00 as a max bid I would think. And one or more of the drivers might need to be replaced??
glennconti
Well the auction just ended. The La Scalas went for a cool $1000. Too rich for me considering the 4 hour drive there and back, the new crossovers, the time and materials to refirb the cabinets and the fact that I couldn't even audition them???? Those industrials are looking mighty tasty at $1200 obo.
