ChrisSchep
hi everyone! ive recently decided i definitely want to add a subwoofer to my system. ive heard the supercube reference and absolutely loved it! however id like to know what you guys think would work as far as bass/subwoofers. i am also thinkin about epik's dual empires but i havent heard them yet. has anyone heard the empires that can tell me how they sound in relation to the supercube. also, im open to other options if anyone knows of a subwoofer with ALOT of low end boom. im working with a yamaha rx-a720, 2 rf-7 II's and an rc-64 II in a 16x16 room. i know thats alot of sound for that size room but i love BIG sound. my budget is $1500 - $2000. thanks for any help! mustang guy
It's hard to beat SVS's lineup. The PC13 and PB13 Ultras...
joeydingo
I'll second the SVS suggestion. Best bang for the buck out there from both the research I did and the satisfaction level of both myself and everyone I know who owns one. Top notch build quality and components--and BEAUTIFUL. Scrappydue
I can vouch for the pb-13 ultras! I have 2 in a smaller room than you have. Although one was more than enough I felt Two looks cooler lol. But svs makes a great product and is a fantastic company to work with. Scrappydue
The very first thing I watched was the end thx outro on avatar bluray and with that thing in the corner I felt like I had also scored a free pair of tactile transducers with the sub. I have never had my couch shake so much. It was almost too much but then I thought well that just doesn't exist. That's when I bought the second one lol
ChrisSchep
Nice! Are there any dealers or do u have to buy from the manufacturer. I checked online but didnt see anywhere that sells them besides svs.
Scrappydue
Straight from them. That is how the Internet dealers keep cost down.
joeydingo
The "factory direct" way that SVS operates probably means you can easily stay under your $2k budget as you don't have an audio dealer (nothing against them by the way) making a 50% or more markup on a sub that you get from SVS for $1600. That same sub if purchased through a dealer network might be $2500.
wuzzzer
You might get lucky and find one near you pre-owned through craigslist, audiogon, eBay, etc. SVS makes a very, very good subwoofer.
