mjcmt
What you say? I'm looking for a budget power amp and see these Denon power amps sell for not much money. Are they any good and how do they sound? A lesser option is look for a Denon PMA-2000ivr integrated amp and sell my preamp. Which sounds better? willland
I am very pleased with any of my 80's/90's Denon pieces that I currently own and have owned. The PMA-2000IVR is a beast(50+ lbs) of an integrated that would have no trouble at all driving just about any speaker mfr'd. I used to own a Denon POA-1500 and it was a very nice sounding(and looking) amp but struggled a bit with difficult loads. The 5200 may not have any troubles at all. What speakers are you planning on driving with either of these Denons? Bill
jacksonbart
Its much better than the Denon POS-4800
andyo5
"Its much better than the Denon POS-4800" I'd be cautious about buying anything named "POS".
mjcmt
Bill, The speakers I'm driving are 4 ohm DIY 'SEAS Froy mk3' speakers in a 18'w x 22'd x 9'h room.
Dr Morbius
Yea, the Denon POS-4800 is a real stinker - don't touch it!
