Salvaging flood soaked audio equipment!

Many years ago when I still lived in Ohio a family member had his basement listening room flooded. He was able to salvage almost all of the electronics using methods very close to what was shown in the link.

Unfortunately his Dahlquist DQ-10s and Magnepan (model unknown) ended up in the dumpster. Most electronics can indeed be recovered from a flooding event. As a rule speakers and decorative wooden trim not so much.

When I was on cruise in the Navy on an aircraft carrier, we had the AFFF firefighting foam get discharged twice on open aircraft. The guys from the squadrons would place the electronic equipment in fresh water-filled trash cans. We would pick up our gear that we worked on and rinsed it out. Then scrubbed the electronics with a brush and IPA. After that, it was rinse time and left out to dry.
