tromprof
Anyone know anything about these pro model speakers. There is a guy near me with 4 for sale and he has had them for sale for a while, thinking I could pick up one or two cheap. Maybe a good center between KG4s or rear surrounds? bhendrix
Hi Tromprof, The KP-262s are terrific speakers. They are voiced with particular attention to vocals and, as such, perform exceptionally well as PA speakers in small auditoriums or churches. The K-65 tweeter (same as the KP-3002/302) is the Eminence PSD-2002 (a real over-achiever) on the K-604 horn. The woofer is the K-42. Sensitivity is 102db and crossover is 700Hz. Power handling is 250 watts and max SPL is 125db. The trapezoid cabinet is 3/4" plywood with all surfaces internally braced with steel supports for flying. These speakers are designed for loud and clean, but not low. They will sound much bigger and more open than the KG-4, but won't go as low. LF response drops off pretty quickly below 60Hz. They are rear-ported, so some attention should be paid to placement. The 262s, together with a sub-woofer suitable for the application, make terrific PA speakers as well as terrific sounding (Low WAF) home theater speakers. If these were closer, they would already be in my garage.
