awsjr
I am sorry to put this up for sale... I just don't get a chance to use it and also need to downsize... I am the second owner... condition : the wood base has a few dings courtesy of the original owner... to me they were minor and less important then the sonic qualities.... the amp's performance is flawless.... holds the bias rock steady and true to previous reviews is a pleasure to listen to.... tubes : KT-88 (3) Genelex & (4) Value Art I got when I bought it....hours unknown.... (1) Genelex I received was a DOA so for a while I used 2 Genelex and 2 VA.... (4) Penta Labs KT-88SC with less then 50 hrs... 5AR4 - (2) Sovtec ... 12AX7 - Telefunken smooth black plates labeled Dynaco .... 12AU7 - EH ***$ 1500.00 (was $1800.00) + split actual shipping costs and will be in (2) boxes, amp and tubes.... local pickup is Austin TX... I can drive to meet a reasonable distance.... payment : certified check, money order or personal check preferred... PayPal is not something I want to do but if you pay the fees we can consider it... awsjr
hey thanks.... I was wondering if I had an invisible ad as I find it strange that no one has even asked about this amp... perhaps I over emphasized "dings" as there are only (2). very small and easily fixed with some filler, light sanding and a recoat of tung oil... I considered doing it prior to selling but again they are small and didn't think it was a "sell stopper"... I can provide close up pictures if needed... and the main thing (to me) the amp is fantastic.... drives my Belles and my main set up effortlessly...plus the tubes included are some of the best.... to my knowledge, my price at $1500 is a couple $100 lower then any I have seen and $1000+ under new... muel
Seems very strange to me that you haven't seen more response on this awesome amp! Of course, I don't know anything about this specific one... but there is no way I would sell for less than this unless desperate and then I'd be looking around for other things to get rid of first. Those Penta kt88sc tubes are $200 by themselves.
Sprinter1104
That's a great amp at a great price. GLWS!
Guest davidness
I have one of these amps, and I love it, but I have found that the speaker pairing can make quite a bit of difference. I originally had it connected to my crossover-upgraded RF-7's, and I must admit it that I was not terribly impressed (YMMV). I then switched it to a pair of B&W speakers that were just so-so sounding, and the VRD ST amp made them awesome. Go figure. The amp itself is wonderfully made and great looking, so with this pairing, I would never part with it. $1500 is an incredible price, and I even found myself contemplating picking this one up as a second unit. So my suggestion to anyone is grab this while you can!

I've listen to RF-7 before along with a number of folks at an audio get together using my Mono Blocks and people were shocked at how well the amplifiers handled the RF7's.......especially the owner of the speakers! I seriously doubt the 15 watts less was the reason... Did you try the 4 ohm taps?
