Seems to me the most obvious initial implementation of the Google autonomous vehicle technology on highways would be trucks. Set them such that they never enter the passing lane except in an emergency situation. The truck lines would save huge sums since they'd keep moving 24/7 and we'd all get relief from sleep deprived, amphetamine crazed truck drivers. The rest would follow...
