bebop86
Guys- I just purchased a pair of RF-7II's and have ordered a RC-64II center for my family room- Not sure which way to go for rears- Since WAF will not allow hanging speakers for the family room I will need to place these on stands behind the listening position - Will not be using sides so not sure which is best for just rears- they will be about 3-4 feet behind lisening position- thanks so much for the advice!! Sancho Panza
Welcome to the Klipsch Forums! Take it you mean Surround, placed in the Rear? As I have no experience with either, I'll leave advice to others. Edited April 24, 2014 by Sancho Panza
bebop86
thanks for the welcome- Yes for the rear Using a 5.1 system- cannot do sides so these will be behind me - any thoughts would be appreciated!!

mustang guy
That close to the LP, I would definitely go with the surrounds. The bookshelf units would be way off-axis and directional. Oh, and the RS-52 II's sound just as good as the 62's, so save the cash, and the wall space. edit: Welcome to the forum! mustang guy
Hey, there is a guy selling 52's that JUST listed them in these forums: https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/149222-fs-rf52ii-pair-of-floor-standing-speakers/#entry1712760 I am not affiliated with this sale, and the guy is a forum newbie. I just saw it and thought I better jump back into this topic...

Moderators Youthman Posted April 24, 2014 Moderators Share Posted April 24, 2014 Welcome to the forums. I have owned the RS52, RS62, and RS62ii and yes you could use the 52 as they have no problem keeping up with the RF7ii if you want to save some money. I heard no sonic difference between the RS62 and RS62ii, merely a different style speaker grill. House I had the RB 35's and prefer the sound of the RS series for movies as it provides a wide dispersion sound which is what you want for movies. Sancho Panza
If you don't get the 62IIs, you'll always wonder, what if? Do you have room for Heights, &/or Wides?
MichaelandKlipsch
I went with youth’s suggestion when I built my theater and decided on surrounds instead of bookshelves for my surround backs (also for my side surrounds) I have also had the RS52s, RS62s and RS52iis and you will be fine with the RS52s. my surround backs are very close to my main LP as well and benefit more from the Wide dispersion. It will bring sound behind you and around your rear listening position without being from a focused spot. Id hands down go with these and skip the bookshelves. Again the 52s will work just fine but the 62iis match even better with the RF7iis and were designed with them as a set. Youth and I both went from 52s to 62s in the past. Hope this helps but you are going to have a very nice sounding setup with your new speakers congrats.

Moderators Youthman Posted April 24, 2014 Moderators Share Posted April 24, 2014 I had the "what if" but now that I've owned all 3, I realize the "what if" wasn't as big of a deal as I thought. The 62's sound larger and more full but definitely not a night and day difference. If you go with the 62's, you won't have to worry about it. If you need to save some cash, I personally do not feel the 52's are in any way a "compromise". They will more than adequately keep up with the RF-7ii's. I used mine with RF-83 / RC-64 for over a year and never once felt they were lacking. I only upgraded because of a too good to pass up deal.
