The Dude
Probably not your issue, but I began to get a loud buzzing in my MacBook Pro that turned out to be a mechanical buzz from the CD player. I finally figured out that I had to eject the disk and start it again, but for a while I thought it was a bad hum. That's a good point as well, I all so removed the cd drive and blew out all the connections. I think regardless what the issue is, hopefully there are enough solutions here to help someone with the same problem.
The Dude
I pin pointed the buzz to the outlet. I tried my fruman surge protector but it still buzzed. I figured it is either the cord that it is plugged into or something plugged into it. So for now I have a separate cord running to the laptop. So no buzzing. Thaddeus Smith
I still don't consider that new dac to be a waste. It's a stupid easy upgrade and relatively inexpensive.
