EKBI
Just wondering: Is it possible to by a AT screen with 16:9 and 2.35:1? And how would it work with masks? Is it a possible to get automated motorized masks? And what about the projector? Can you get one that shows 16:9 and 2.35:1? JVC, and Panasonic both make projectors that have power zoom/focus, and memory settings so the aspect ratio will change automatically for you. You can also get motorized masking. With a 'scope screen, the 2.35:1 image will be larger in area (rather than the 16.9 being bigger), which is it should be, since most filmmakers using 2.35:1 intend it to be bigger. We don't have masks with our 130 inch wide Semour 2.35:1 screen; with the room totally dark except for light coming from the projector we don't seem to miss them. The white area on either side of a 16:9 image doesn't look very white, and is not distracting. The memory setting works well, but with our Panasonic projector a little refocusing may be necessary when changing the aspect ratio, but that is quick and easy. Sometimes the image requires some moving up or down, but that is quick and easy, also.
