Jim
Looking at purchasing this model and wanted to see if anyone knew anything about it,and what upgrades can be done to it if any. Asking price is $100.
russ69
Personally I wouldn't buy a turntable unless it was a really good one. 100 bucks ain't going to do it.
Jim
It's used and at a vintage vinyl place. If it were new, I wouldn't even look at it.
tromprof
I had one of those when it was new. I really like older Yamaha stuff, that is from their plastic 80s phase and ok, but nothing to write home about. If pristine $100 maybe, otherwise hold out for better. My B4 from the 70s is better. Jim
I had an old JVC from 1967 but sold it when I was getting out of vinyl. Decided to keep the vinyl and have had it stored for the last 5 years. Is this model able to switch out different cartridges/needles? If I can upgrade the cartridge for the sound, it may be worth doing the $100.00 on it and "learning" about vinyl again. I did listen to it and it sounds fine, but then again I don't have anything else to compare it to.
djk
The tonearm resonated badly on those, and they have low immunity to acoustic feedback. Wrapping some damping rubber material about 1/3 down the length of the tonearm from the pivot point will help.
Marvel
I have an SL1200mkII that I have zero invested in (due to some trades), but I have been intrigued with the Orbits from Uturn Audio.
