kg4guy
Thought I would get my MWM bins up and running again so I'm using 4 Tom Danley Synergy horn speakers covering the mid and highs they are the td-1's early version of the SH46 and I 'm also using a Danley DBH218 sub. Still experimenting with crossover points but that's fun. Edited February 4, 2015 by kg4guy
mustang guy
Impressive wall of speakers you have there! Does the single Danley keep up with those all by itself? I have heard they are incredible subs.
kg4guy
The DBH218 has a SPL of 112db so yes it will keep up and more Tom Danley has come up with some amazing speakers not only subs but his tops also the Synergy Horns are amazing . I said it in a previous post Danley Sound Labs are the only speaker I would consider over Klipsch. http://www.danleysoundlabs.com/danley/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/DBH-218-spec-sheet.pdf
djk
"The DBH218 has a SPL of 112db" Subtract 6dB for it being 2Ω, 106dB still isn't bad.
kg4guy
"The DBH218 has a SPL of 112db" Subtract 6dB for it being 2Ω, 106dB still isn't bad. Ivan Beavers from Danley response to the -6db I also was curious seeing as I am a Danley Dealer. What he is referring to is the old 1watt/1meter argument. That argument is false-since you do NOT put power to a speaker-you simply apply voltage and the wattage is the result. 2.83V is 1 watt into 8 ohms. But a loudspeaker is NOT what the rating is. That rating is simply the closest standard number (2-4-8-16) that is somehow an average over the freq response. At many freq the impedance is higher and sometimes lower than the actual rating. IT is for that reason that we use 2.83V as our "standard-no matter what the impedance is. We supply an actual impedance CURVE (something that most people don't) so the user can determine that THEY think the impedance and wattage is. Different people will come up with different numbers when looking at a curve. But if the ratings were flat (which they are not on any loudspeaker) then a 2 ohm loudspeaker will have a 6dB advantage over an 8 ohm speaker in terms of sensitivity. But this is accounted for in the max output specs. The REAL thing to look at is the freq response-but many manufacturers do not supply that either. So if you are dealing with "simple numbers" from one manufacturer and real data from another-it can get a bit confusing-because you have no idea where the "simple numbers" come from
djk
"That argument is false-since you do NOT put power to a speaker-you simply apply voltage and the wattage is the result."I like Tom, but Ivan is full of it.

Notice the EQ setting recommendation: Recommended processing for this cab are as follows: Recommended maximum amplifier power: 6000w program (140 to 145 volts) even as little as 600w will produce quite a bit of bass Recommended Processing: 24Hz Butterworth 18dB/Octave high pass BP EQ1 107Hz Q10.0 -7.5dB BP EQ2 84Hz Q2.20 +2.5dB BP EQ3 44Hz Q2.80 -1.5dB Edited February 18, 2015 by mustang guy

There is a guy near Nashville Rick Lee he is a BFM certified builder he will build you one.
