Moderators Youthman Posted February 20, 2015 Author Moderators Share Posted February 20, 2015 MUCH BETTER! Now that looks like a properly setup 7.2 system!
Moderators Youthman Posted February 20, 2015 Author Moderators Share Posted February 20, 2015 Just another suggestion, The Center ChannelPlace the center channel speaker immediately above or below the screen, directly facing the listening area (see Fig. . If the speaker is being set on a shelf or stand, be sure that the leading edge of the speaker is flush with the edge of the stand, to maintain dialogue clarity. "Directly Facing" might not have the same interpretation as angling the center channel up or down towards the listening area. When I setup my first HT, it never occured to me of actually angling the center channel downward since it was on top of my TV (back when TV's were as deep as a shelf. colterphoto1
Thanks Chad. Some would argue against the front corner placement of double subs, the exact corner is possibly the boomiest place to put a sub. I always offer that it should be non-equidistant from two walls if nearby a corner. And of course there is that 3 db gain from stacking or placing them side-by-side that can't be ignored, depending on the model (my THX are just that - firing sideways, pulled out a big from a corner, and stacked). Some THX specialists would favor a front/rear sub approach or front/side. Of course there's always the famous 'put the sub where you sit and crawl around until you find where it sounds good approach'. But even the best written FAQ page has to have an end...

javelin
The two "S" should be labeled as front heights(FHL/FHR) or at least to that effect as they might be interpreted as "S"ubs. With the addition of FH speakers, it's technically a 9.1 system. There are few more things I think are not consistent in the diagram but I'm just getting too picky now... ; ) Edited February 21, 2015 by javelin
Moderators Youthman Posted February 21, 2015 Author Moderators Share Posted February 21, 2015 The two "S" are subwoofers lol
javelin
The two "S" are subwoofers lol hahaaa..! i was wondering where that one sub went...should have re-read it again. It's all good! Ok, I'm going to have my coffee now... Actually, what I think confused me was these statements: This statement completes the side and rear surrounds: "The rear surround speakers add more depth to the surround sound experience by spreading the sound across four speakers (the left and right surrounds and rears), rather than two, resulting in more directed, immersive sound." And thought this statement for the fronts which I mistook for the "S", it's how I came up with the 9.1. "The two additional speakers also help to fill larger rooms more completely. Plus, more and more films are being released or home viewing in 7.1 format, adding to its appeal."
