matts6887
It seems like every time i turn on my klipsch promedia 5.1 speaker controller; I get a high pitched humming noise; and then every time i try to play a video off of youtube; I get very low pitched crackling sound which eventually after cranking the volume up a bit goes to full normal sound after a bit of time. . Now is this a sign of a bad circuit(s) in my klipsch promedia amp; or a bad controller; or what else am I looking at here? thanks Matt Edited August 31, 2015 by matts6887

I have an old setup like that and it makes a crackling noise when you adjust it too. I don't have the high pitched issue though. That may be an input cable issue or something up with the sound card. I don't know how to safely clean it. Maybe we should both phone Klipsch.
matts6887
Well; I just hope its not a sign of my amp going bad because Ive already had the amp repaired a couple of times at least and it wasnt cheap to get it fixed. So if anyone else has any ideas that would be great on this one. However; if i have a chance i will call klipsch tomorrow(monday) morning my time(arizona) and see what they can make of it. TwoCables
There are videos on YouTube showing how to clean and fix the volume knob problem, but matts6887 I don't think it will help you. I'm just kind of passing through and helping Max and Gary. Edited September 11, 2015 by TwoCables
matts6887
Well; I just turned on my promedia 5.1 volume/sub/speaker controller and I was getting a high pitched whining sound. I have windows 10 on my system now; but when i ran windows 7 I never had this issue. Could this be a software issued related to my sound card which is a sound blaster x-fi titanium pci express sound card? or something else that is amp related? Are there any "experts" out there on these forums that can shed some more light on this one with ideas for me to check? And how could I take the volume knob apart and even better take the whole controller apart and clean and dust out the insides of it with a air can and some electronics cleaner? Guest thesloth
Do you have an oscilloscope? If no then this will probably have to go to a tech again.

Wait, it only started happening since you installed Windows 10? Do you have a microphone connected? Actually, does it happen before you even turn the computer on or before Windows even has a chance to start up? matts6887
I dont know if it happens before windows has a chance to start up completely but am thinking it probably does; however after awhile the high pitched noise goes away. however now I am not getting full surround audio. I am not getting audio from my 2 front and center speakers. But thats a whole different issue; and the sound that i am getting is not coming from the correct speakers. TwoCables
You may need a proper driver for the sound card that works in Windows 10. So, I recommend using Daniel_K's X-Fi Series Support Pack 3.7: http://forums.creative.com/showthread.php?t=720562 Download: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4veZnyFbxW4OGgyRjlIV3NMaGM Edited September 28, 2015 by TwoCables
