tube fanatic
When searching for affordable vintage tube amps most audiophiles will immediately go after Fisher, Scott, and other well known brands. However, there are some real treasures to be found which can be much less costly. By the late 50s just about every company had compact, budget priced, amps on the market. Many were mono units which made it easy to upgrade to stereo by simply purchasing another identical unit. Allied, Lafayette, Radio Shack, Grommes, Bogen, Pilot, Heathkit, Burstein-Applebee and many others all offered small amps in the 5-10 watt power range. The sound quality which these amps are capable of would surprise you! So, if you come across any of these at a reasonable price, don't ignore them. They can be very easy and inexpensive to restore, and the synergy with Klipsch speakers (with which they were often used back then) is excellent. Do a search for the catalogs from some of these companies to check out their offerings!Maynard

Mallette
Crikey, nearly an unlimited selection of great vintage vacuum tube amps far exceeding the list you put up. Of course, a lot more people now are aware of their value but the majority remain blissfully unaware. It's often worthwhile to ask if there is any old such junk around not in evidence at estate sales and junk stores...Lonelobo got a couple of Marantz 5s at 50 bucks on just such a query. "Yeah, there's some outdated old junk back there if you want to look..." Oh, I do, I do! Dave
FloridaBoy
Here is a cool link that I posted in another thread: http://www.hifilit.com/ However, here in SW Florida the pickings are pretty slim. Be sure the check out Mad Magazine does Hi-fi.
