JoeJoe
I currently have RF62 II as my fronts, RB61 II, as my sides, RC62 II as my center. I am looking to add rear surrounds to complete a 7.1 setup. I am looking at getting a pair of the RP-240S. Since my set up has 6 IN woofers all around, would the RP-240S be underwhelming with their 4in woofers? My seating area would be a little over 6ft from the placements of the rear surrounds. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
willland
Unless you want to spend a nice chunk on RS-62IIs to get 6.5's all around, consider a pair of RS-35s for very little $$$. https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/161767-rs-35-surrounds/#entry1977087 I have been using RS-35s with my RF-63/RC-64 combo for over three years and have felt no need to "upgrade". Oh, "consider" moving your direct radiating RB61IIs to the rear and mount the wide dispersion surrounds on the side. Bill
dmb12679
I just recently got a pair of RS-42ii's($330) to go with a rf7 and rc64 combo and it does a fine job. I always suggest bigger is better, but the 42's can hang with the rf-7's no problem, so smaller can do the job if budget is tight.
JoeJoe
The reason I have the RB61s as the sides is because I have protruding columns on both sides of the walls (rectangular shape room 25 x 15). So my thinking was if I mounted a pair of the wide dispersion on the sides, it wouldn't sound right because the sound would be deflected from the protruding column. Also, moving the bookshelves to the rears isn't a viable option because of the size.
Schu
Ive often wondered how good two "center" channels would be if placed in the rear for rear surrounds. I bet they would sound pretty good. Edited February 3, 2016 by Schu
