Soundthought
It's always a give and take thing with HT. At least he has plenty of low end headroom. 90Hz... Those damn tangential modes will get you every time. Well, gotta do what ya gotta do. ------------------ You should of heard just what I've seen. boa12
ar, that's why i'm a big advocate of adjustable crossovers down lower. could you imagine HE's set-up if he could drop the small setting high pass down to 50hz or so? hope he tries it some day. may have to get a 200X7 power amp to better drive those 30 woofs down lower though. as for those high crossovers, i'd go w/ heresy or rb-5 or 3s. why doesn't klipsch just slap a "thx" sticker on those? now those are thx speaks to me. 5-7 of those w/ a pair of ultra will do just as well cut at 80hz+ as any of the bigger klipsch. well, on bass anyway. ------------------ My Home Systems Page
Guest BobG
Remember that THX speakers are purpose-built for movie reproduction. The forthcoming THX system is not planned as competition for the RF-7. Of course you all will decide it for yourself. In any case, they are very different from one another. boa12
as far as the thx technologies, they're done post-processing on most i believe. are on my thx prepro anyway. that is i can run dts & do the thx timbre-matching, etc. on top of dts, prologic, dolby, etc. like dts-thx. the thx tech is a minor enhancement or change imo. as for speaker standards, what specifically will make thx speakers any dif from the other klipsch offerings. like say the rb-5? they're shielded & seem to have the range to go w/ the thx standard 80hz cut-off & a good sub that'll do 20-80hz well. what's so dif about thx speaks besides the logo? now if klipsch comes out w/ "thx" speaks that go low like the rf-7 that's just more design mismatch when receiver makers are putting out fixed crossovers at 80hz, or only allow adjustability UP from 80hz. klipsch ought to either make 'em smaller &/or put a warning on the bigger speaks saying that if one plans on using a receiver w/ a thx standard 80hz fixed crossover, then they need only speaks that do only down to 60-80hz. or if they want big speaks, then get a receiver or pre/pro w/ a processor that has adjustability down to 40-50hz. sorry to keep ranting on this, but i keep seeing this bass mgmt issue pop up over & over on audio boards. its a problem that's falling thru the cracks between receiver makers & speaker makers. seems that its just let the buyer beware that most a/v receivers really aren't compatible w/ big speaks as far as bass mgmt. end rant. ------------------ My Home Systems Page

iDunno
Why does Klipsch want to make the speakers when there are already simular models out there like the JBL...is there a special "klipsch" sound?
TheEAR
Is there a special Klipsch sound? Good question Yes the special Klipsch sound is for real! Last week and the week before was war movie week and heavy metal week! LOL One of my ear drums probably needs to be replaced! Talk about special Klipsch sound,in very dynamic, huge dynamic range, throws upper range and mids in your face and pounds you with vicious bass. The Klipsch sound is cherished by owners and feared by all those around you who like quiet moments.
