Silverfoxvtx1800
I was reading today that changing the crossovers would make a big difference. How many out there bought the crossovers on a wooden board from Bob Crites. Did it really make a difference. My 1986 fortes have been sitting around for a long time. Also changing the tweeter diaphragms?....crossovers $245 and $54. Worth it?
oldred
I have always change my tweeter diaphragms to titanium ....but that is my preference. As far as the crossovers...it is more economical to just replace the capacitors. Or if you aren't much for soldering...and you can deal with the 3 to 4 days of down time you can always send them to Bob and he will do them for you. I have bought Bob's crossovers for 1 set of my Forte's as well as a pair of Chorus II's...... he does do great work. George,
jason str
Pull out the terminal cup and send it to Bob for a recap, inductors don't wear out and components are tested before sent out.
Frzninvt
Sonicaps in the network and titanium diaphrams are going to make your ears bleed. They will not sound the same if you do that. Phenolic diaphrams are far smoother unless you suffer from high frequency hearing loss or the tweeters are having issues I would leave the original diaphrams alone.
