DTS or SPDIF?

totally different things. S/PDIF is the technology sending the DTS or Dolby signal, Sony/Philips Digital InterFace. DTS is better than Dolby Digital if that is what you meant. Some can not tell the difference, some can. I can.

Exactly, and thats why when a new release comes out you want to buy it really bad. But then a couple months later they come out with the DTS version and you have to buy it again or suck it up. Money grubbing bastards at the the studios.

I don't have enough experience with dolby digital or dts to have noticed the difference yet. Do they both use a 44.1kHz pcm or are they different entirely. I have seen DD referred to as AC3. THX is not a sound format but a sound standard so unless you have a THX certified sound system as well as a THX certified room(rare in a house) you don't really have a "true" THX experience, although there may be improvements over a non THX version.
