Alexander
I initially planed to use a 9.5x12x.75 board to build each of my crossovers on. But started to wonder if it would be altering the designed volume of my Forte II's too much? The whole idea was to space out the components but truthfully they can all fit easily on half of that of 6x9.5. So what would be a realistic maximum of added volume without causing a negative impact of performance?
Schu
Unless you are actually adding more component volume to a confined space, the internal volume remains consistent... whether the items are spread across 3" or 3'. I
JohnA
I don't think either size is an issue. You'd be reducing the volume by only the increase in the volume of the board, easy to calculate (and small vs the cabinet). However, there is no need to spread the components. Iron core inductors hold their magnetic fields very close to the inductor. Turning each inductor 90 degrees from the others eliminates interference between inductors. Capacitors don't influence each other.
