Thanks for all the advice,

the room is carpeted and fairly heavily furnished with material roll down blinds covering all windows. Just directing the speakers slightly away from me has made a considerable difference, I'll stick with the Arcam for now although it was a good excuse to get a Dolby atmos receiver😉.

one final question, I currently have a rp110 sub does anyone believe it would be worth adding another 10" sub for HT or eventually just replace it with a larger one. My room is about 23sq metres or around  245 sq ft.

A problem with one of my rooms is it's close to being a cube. Not sure what I will do about not having good 2 channel sound.

Imagine the squawker is a flood light.  Where ever the "light" touches a wall/ceiling/floor is a reflection and should have something absorbent there if the room is reflective.  Persian rugs are a decorative way to do it.

a cube room has potential issues but can be great.  proper treatment and not sitting dead center (forward or back) will help.  setting it up slightly off center or asymetrically can also help
