RogerC
I've got a space restriction on both sides of the TV due to two sets of French Doors exiting out to the patio. I'm thinking the best option would be in-wall LR Fronts and in-wall LR Front Heights, all mounted on the two walls perpendicular to the TV wall, but distributing their sound angularly into the listening space. Will also probably need in-wall angular for rear surrounds and rear heights due to the lack of any mounting wall at the back rear of the listening area (mounted on the wall just behind the seating area). Room layout is attached. Does anyone know of a Klipsch or other manufacturer option for in-wall angular speakers for these purposes?
Gnote
I cannot help you with in wall speakers but the Klipsch THX Ultra II system is fairly compact and can overcome a lot of placement issues. I have some and I'm amazed every time I play movies on them. There is a forum member @opusk2k9 with a set for sale at around 1/3 of the retail price
willland
RogerC, Welcome to the forum. Do all four doors swing open or does each set have a a door with locking pins/rods on top and bottom? If yes, do you ever swing open those said doors? Could you place floorstander speakers in front of those doors? I had a similar setup in my previous home and I placed speakers in front of the closed doors. Where are you located by the way? Bill

Those definitely look like nice speakers, but I don't see how I could make them work, given the doors need to be opened fully. RogerC
Thank you, willland. Yes, we do need to open all four doors occasionally... our outdoor eating area is just through them and we do have parties with large groups. I'm afraid in-wall is the only option for the fronts. We're in Phoenix and do like having the doors open in the winter months. Edited September 30, 2017 by RogerC added info

The speaker can be mounted upside down to get the tweeter down a bit. How much room on the side of the TV do you have? I would also consider using FH speakers to help with the vertical sound stage. You have a large room and careful selection of speakers and instillation is needed.

Especially with the structural limitations. It will mess with the room flow from the kitchen a bit, but I would rotate the room 90 degrees clockwise and put the tv on the bottom wall. For sporting events it is nice to see the TV from the kitchen (in my experience at least). Much easier to put the LCR on that wall and the rears can go on either side of the opening to the kitchen (door stop for the patio door). You might have to ceiling mount the sides, but it more manageable (IMO and pending wife approval).

The TV will be mounted on the wall bumpout shown in the drawing. The bumpout only extends 8" on each side of the TV, so there won't be enough space for these. Regarding Front Heights... being new to this, I had already purchased 4 Klipsch KHC-6 in-ceiling speakers for Front and Rear Heights, but have since been told they're probably not a good choice, given the extreme height of the room at 14 '. So, yes, it looks like I'll also be looking for Front and Rear Heights that can be mounted on the left and right walls, perpendicular to the TV. (There are windows directly above the french doors, extending all the way up to the ceiling).

Yes, trying to fit a home theater into a room designed more as a family room is proving to be a challenge. Actually, we had rearranged the furniture to face the wall opposite the kitchen just as you suggested. But after living with it for a couple of weeks, decided it defeated the purpose of the remodel we did that opened the kitchen to the family room So while that would certainly simplify things, we're going to have to stick with the TV between the patio doors. I appreciate your thoughts.
