Kain
Would you guys consider "Saving Private Ryan" still the best DTS DVD movie out there?
roy
its hard to say if saving private ryan is the best sounding dts movie of alltime in my opinion because the storyline is so powerful you might get emotionally caught up in that to judge it fairly! I persoannly think its one of the best and most powerful sounding dvds out there but then again i have head quite a few others that rival it too! Kain
Thanks. By the way, which do you think is the best sounding Dolby Digital DVD movie?
boa12
kain, for DD no doubt - the matrix. i got Ryan in DD before the dts version came out & it still sounds great. as far as dts, i'd have to put U-571 up there w/ ryan for sound & sub impact. Kain
Thanks. I have seen "U-571" on my uncle's Sony "home theater" but I feel I need to re-watch it once I have my Klipsch up and runnin'.
boa12
kain, those svs will be really handy for any of these. do you have those yet? could you update your sig file to show what you have now?
Kain
Right now I only have the Klipsch RF-7s, RC-7, and RS-7s.
Kain
As for the SVS, I am not sure if I will be able to convince my father into getting dual SVS CS-Ultras and might have to settle for a single one. However, I am trying to keep my hope up for duals now.
boa12
i'd use a single ultra or ss now & see if u even need another. another good DD only is "We Were Soldiers", DD EX. seems many of the great effects & big explosions are in war flicks. Kain
Yeah, I heard good things about "We Were Soldiers" and I am probably gonna buy it unseen.
MagnumMan
I will say Saving Pt Ryan is one of the best DTS. the opening beach scene is awesome. And toward the end when the tanls arrive, really shows powerful bass. There are a lot of great ones available, but U-571 always stands out. When the sub is being bombarded from the depth charges. Apollo 13, and Jackal are also really good. Like SPRyan, they are among the first DTS dvds with full bitrates. One of the disappointing DTS of late is Pearl Harbor. The scene of the attack is missing the punch that I am used to. It might have something to do with the space wasted on bonus materials. Now,on the DD front,I have recently watched Matrix and We Were Soldiers. Both lack a powerful soundtrack IMHO.
easyeyes
Saving Private Ryan is really a good movie, but When We Were Soldiers is really good also. If I had to rate them, I would say that the latter is the best IMO.
