Can someone quickly and easily explain what bi-wiring does and its benefits...Is it hard to to or worth it? Chris A Posted November 24, 2017 Share Posted November 24, 2017 Bi-wiring is basically ...a waste of your time and money. Most consumer-grade loudspeaker manufacturers nowadays provide bi-wiring connectors, but this is basically just marketing hype. Just use 14 gauge zip-strip wire and be done with it. Bi-amping represents a significant upgrade in performance for your loudspeakers. If those "bi-wiring" connectors allows you to electrically separate the woofers from the midrange/tweeters (and thus provide easy access to bi-amp) then you've got something worth having. Some avr's offer bi-amping but, there is usually no electronic XO and the user's speaker is still connected to the passive built-in XO of the speaker.
