Droogne
I know the uses of the K260 horn, but I was wondering if it would be able to use it as a 2way horn with a Faital HF200, on top of a LaScala bassbin. 500hz crossover.
pzannucci
Looks like the combo would require quite a bit of eq on the high end at least. Not sure how the k260 will do with highs either but could be a fun project.
Droogne
@Chris A, as I trust your judgement on all things horn related, would you think this would be something worth trying out?
Chris A
Yes. It probably won't need a great deal of EQ since it's a collapsing polar horn. Straight horns haven't got a high frequency cutoff, so a Faital Pro 2" full-range will work from 400-16000 Hz. But you'll still need to measure the response and apply some EQ, at least on the high end. The polar coverage on the high end might be a little small, however. geoff.
But would it sound better than a K510 with the same driver? The K260 dwarfs it!
Chris A
They will sound different--there are pros and cons in each design. I'd personally still take the K-510 for reasons of polar coverage at higher frequencies. The K-210 will hold horizontal polars down to below 400 Hz, but both horns with have trouble in the vertical axis below 1-2 kHz. Droogne
Seems like it's worth trying out! Price is very reasonable so I think I'm just gonna go ahead and try out.
pzannucci
Let us know how it goes. Very narrow coverage will either force more eq or minimal listening positioning.
