Terminus
Just wondering if there is a cable like this. I want to hook up my sound card via the 1/8" digital out to my DD-5.1 but the only connection I have left is the coaxial in. Is there anyway to connect these two devices this way? justin_tx_16
yeah, it is a pain right? why not just make the dd-51 take in a mini 1/8 jack? well, go to radio shack, get a rca mono to mino mono adapter, or vice versa. if you can not get that, then get a stereo RCA to Stereo Mini adapter cable, plug the mini end into the sound cards digital output, and then one of the rca ends will carry the digital signal, i don't remember which. justin_tx_16
Yes but for the love of all things audio, do NOT pay $18.00 for a 3 foot cable that you could make yourself out of the RIGHT parts. It is using a 1/8 Mini Stereo end, not Mini mono. Yes, it will work, but a trip to radio shack will make a version similar if not better for much less. theoruck
So are you saying the terminal end of the mini jack should or should not be mono. I have a mono terminal end and i couldnt get it to work. Secondly does the RCA cable have to be a digital coaxial cable?
Ruahrc
You need to buy a Mono mini>Mono RCA adapter. This is the one I use- it's like $3 at RadioShack. http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F002%5F001%5F001%5F000&product%5Fid=274%2D897 And yes, you should get digital coax audio cable. The reason is that you need a 75ohm cable- so make sure you get one with the proper impedance (All digital coax audio cables are 75ohm) Ruahrc p.s. the problem isn't in the DD51- it's in the sound card. The standard for digital coax is RCA, not 1/8" mini. Look at the audigy2- it now has the RCA SPDIF on the back of the card like it should. All the breakout boxes have RCA connections too.
