How long will Hong Kong last?

My son and daughter Inlaw went there for their honeymoon about 3 years ago

They loved it and were so impressed with how clean the city was and how everyone had very high manners

I’m sure it’s going to be a big change

Honk kong 's status is dwindling very fast  , it is now part of a greater hub of several Chinese Cities that will emerge as 1 big financial hub , it 's status of the years before the handover are gone , as  the control of it's institutions is now taken over  by China to limit it's growth and distribute it's wealth  to other areas in China  -

HK used to be the 3rd Financial center in the world -that's gone to Singapore  , and one should not forget that it was a relatively very small area , but very dynamic  and prosperous at a time when Chinese Cities were still agricultural land

When will China's George Floyd happen?

Well, since this is the anniversary of the massacre in Tiananmen Square with hundreds killed, I don't know what it will take for changes. HK has, for the most part since '97, had ruled itself. The mainland has been chipping away at it though and the earlier protests have seen them tighten down harder on HK. Xi Jinping has taken full control of the mainland and will walk all over HK as soon as he thinks he can get away with it.

I always passed through there on my way to Nanchang, where my wife taught at a university. A very clean city, the buses seemed like they were new, almost spotless. There were some not so safe places in Kowloon, but overall I loved it.

I liked Macau even more... not as busy and also clean. The older architecture was neater as it was a Portuguese colony compared to England having HK.
