mhughes
Recently moved into a house that already had 4 RSX-3 speakers mounted on the wall. However, the subwoofer was broken and the previous owners were using a Bose speaker for the center channel. If I wanted to get a Klipsch subwoofer and center channel, what current model would best pair with these existing speakers?
wuzzzer
Any Klipsch sub would work. In fact, subs don't benefit from timbre matching like your center speaker will so look at other brands as well. The matching center is the RCX-3, there's one on eBay right now (although it appears to be missing its grille): https://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-RCX-3-Center-Speaker-/254481682159?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292 As far as a new center I'd suggest finding whatever the smallest that Klipsch currently makes since your other speakers are small satellite speakers.
willland
Better yet, get this. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-RCX-4-Black-Home-Theater-Center-Channel-Speaker-Display-Used/254686581963?hash=item3b4c80d4cb:g:KgYAAOSwO5xfNVWO @mhughes, Welcome to the forum. mhughes
So what would happen if I used the R-34C? https://www.klipsch.com/products/r-34c-center-speaker I really like the look of it and would like to mount it under my TV on a shelf kind of like a soundbar. Is there no way to calibrate the sound to make it balanced or am I stuck with the RCX-* line unless I change all the speakers?
wuzzzer
You can always level match the speakers. The R-34 will still play a lot louder, which may not be a bad thing if you want it to act more as a soundbar.
billybob
That RCX-4 center is a really good one. Clear and loud enough. The RSX line are awesome, not inexpensive and, size belies their power.
billybob
If in good shape, that link on ebay a good deal. They are rated at like 92 db so, loud RCX-4... RW-10 sub usually came with the 5.1 package.
